About this speaker
Jack Coursen, senior director of professional development at the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), has worked in the association learning field for nearly two decades, with end-to-end experience and expertise across the learning business continuum.
Jack is passionate about business development and learning innovation focused on member impact, non-dues revenue, and strategic engagement. Jack pioneered online conferences at ASHA in 2006, a format that quickly became and remains the team’s best rated and most profitable format. Jack also created ASHA’s microlearning format, which emphasizes practicing concepts at work, and has spearheaded free course series that have engaged more than 50,000 member learners.
Jack led the three-year effort to create the ASHA Learning Pass, a continuing education subscription, which launched at the start of 2020. Shortly thereafter, he led the effort to provide all ASHA members with free access to the subscription, to eliminate all barriers to education as the landscape of service delivery shifted radically at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. More than 60,000 members consumed over 600,000 hours of education during a three-month period, and the effort received the 2021 ASAE Power of A Gold Award. In the following years, the CE subscription has grown tremendously, becoming the largest driver of revenue, growth, and engagement for ASHA's professional development program.
