Navigate Your Learning Environment with a Communications Compass
A Session by Diane Bégin (Instructor, University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies)
About this Session
Business communicators aim to impact individuals’ behaviors through various forms of paid, earned, shared and owned media (the PESO model). “Know your audience” is a fundamental rule for any communicator, and whether that means working to launch a new Web site, to develop an app, to understand different behaviors on various social media platforms, or w.h.a.t.e.v.e.r. And all the activities in learners’ daily lives shift their expectations of their learning environments as well.
Pressures such as a pandemic, increased political polarization, crises from adverse weather conditions, social unrest, and so forth have meant that professional communicators—who often have a line of sight into all areas of the business—are often acting as bellwethers, helping lead their organizations through those changes.
This session will help you plot key areas in your learning environment to become a bellwether in your own right. Emerging science gives us clues as to how. We’ll cover the impacts of the current communications environment and imminent needs as pressing trends taking shape as we speak.
